Heartwood is an ingredient dropped by Spriggans. However, you are unlikely to encounter it in a normal playthrough because it is only available for characters below level 3; at higher-levels, you will find Belladonna Berries instead. The fact that Spriggans only start appearing in the wild at level 20 makes harvesting Heartwood nearly impossible except for a quest that spawns four Spriggans around Raven Rock. Fortunately, it is also found as random loot in barrow chests, although it remains available only to low-level players.
Heartwood is one of only two ingredients that can be used to create Weakness to Fire potions, the other ingredient being Holly Berries.
