The Chatillon family is a distinguished Breton noble house with a historical connection to the All Flags Navy.[1]
HistoryEdit
First EraEdit
While the precise founding date of House Chatillon remains shrouded in mystery, the earliest known records acknowledging its existence date back to a period of the establishment of the All Flags Navy and the legendary assault on Thras by Bendu Olo in 1E 2260. During this era, the house had already attained the status of a barony. One of its members, Baroness Belene Chatillon, who participated in the assault on Thras, bore the title of a knight. Additionally, she was the revered founder of the renowned chivalric order known as the Order of the Iron Knot.[1][2]
Second EraEdit
During the Second Era, House Chatillon's status and activities remain shrouded unclear. However, they were extant. A noble of the family, Phylgaux Chatillon was present as an observer at a jousting tournament held in Navire on High Isle.[3]
In the mid-Second Era, during the Interregnum, Chatillon was a common surname among Bretons, particularly in the regions such as Bangkorai,[4] Glenumbra,[5][6] High Isle,[7] and outside High Rock. People with the Chatillon surname could be found in various roles, from soldiers,[4] to merchants,[7] and bards.[8] Chatillon commoners could be also found abroad, in places such as Haven,[9] and Morthal.[8]
Enzo Chatillon, the esteemed alchemist, effectively combated the snag-weevil infestation in Glenumbra around 2E 582 with his award-winning alchemical solution.[6]
