Jauffre, the Grandmaster of the Blades

Jauffre was the Grandmaster of the Blades during the closing days of the Third Era.[1] He was known wear his trusty plate armor known as "Cloudrest",[2] and wielded an Akaviri blade simply named "Akaviri".[3]

HistoryEdit

Honor GuardEdit

Many years before the Oblivion Crisis, Jauffre served publicly within Emperor Uriel VII's Blades Guard at the Imperial Palace. One night he was called to the Emperor's private chambers, there was a baby boy sleeping in a basket. Uriel told Jauffre to deliver the child somewhere safe, though he revealed nothing about the baby. Jauffre's intuition told him that it was his Emperor's son. From time to time, Uriel would ask about the child's progress.[4] The boy, named Martin, was raised by a farmer, whom he believed to be his father.[5]

Oblivion CrisisEdit

"Guardian of the Septim line and stalwart leader of the Blades, Jauffre holds the line against the unrelenting onslaught of Oblivion's chaos."[6]

By the time of Oblivion Crisis of 3E 433, Jauffre was retired from public work, living as a simple monk within the Order of Talos at Weynon Priory near Chorrol, but serving in secret as the ultimate Grandmaster of the Blades in Cyrodiil.[4][1] He served as the Empire's chief strategist in the fight against Mehrunes Dagon's invasion from Oblivion.[1] At the onset of the Crisis, he took custody of the Amulet of Kings and instigated the search for Martin Septim, the only surviving heir to the throne. Later, the priory was sacked by the Mythic Dawn. Jauffre survived and got Martin to the safety of Cloud Ruler Temple, but lost the Amulet.[7] He helped Martin decipher the means by which to defeat Mankar Camoran, although it is unknown if he survived the remainder of the Crisis.[1]
