Perennia Draconis at work in the Applewatch garden

Perennia Draconis is an elderly Imperial farmer living at Applewatch, a small farm west of Bruma, together with her dog Jake. She dearly loves her four children: Matthias, Caelia, Andreas and Sibylla, who have all left home to live their dreams around Cyrodiil. She plays a major role in Next of Kin of the Dark Brotherhood questline.

Perennia wakes up at 6am and immediately goes outside to work her farm. She spends four hours raking the ground before switching to a hoe at 10am. Her work on the vegetable patch complete, she heads inside at 2pm and spends five hours reading The Real Barenziah, v 1 in her favorite chair. At 7pm she gets up and wanders around her cottage before heading to bed at 9pm.

She wears a quilted doublet, tan linens and doeskin shoes. She also carries a hoe, a rake, a scythe, and two copies of The Real Barenziah, v 1 and The Real Barenziah, v 2.

Quest-Related EventsEdit

Next of KinEdit

Her unique dialogue can only be heard during the Dark Brotherhood quest Next of Kin, as she is one of your targets. Being the link to the other targets, she will provide you with the Draconis Gift List one way or another.

Depending on your disposition, Perennia can react differently to you when she first sees you:

"La la la, la la la la..." (Disposition 40 or higher)
"Oh dear, whatever could you want?" (Disposition lower than 40)

At this point, the first time you greet her, she will be startled:

"Oh! Hello, there. I'm sorry, you startled me. My nerves get rattled rather easily these days, I'm afraid. Living alone will do that to you. Now, is there something I can help you with?", after which you have three options.
I'm looking for your children.
"My children? Whatever for? Oh! Oh, dear, excuse an old woman's stupidity! You're here to pick up my gift list! Using your gift service was the smartest thing I've ever done. My children are spread across Cyrodiil, and it's so hard to shop for them all! So, here's the list of all my precious little ones, though I dare say they're not so little anymore! Ha ha ha ha ha! They grow up so fast, I swear! You'll notice that the list gives each child's location and some suggestions for gifts. Oh, and here's the gold I'm supposed to give you. Now please go. Those children are so dear to me, and I'd really like you to get them something special. Thanks again!"
You and your children must die.
"What? Excuse me? Did... did you say die? My... my children? No... No! Don't hurt my precious babies! I won't let you!" (she attacks)
<Say nothing.>
"Oh. Well... all right, then. I guess I'll be going about my business. Goodbye."

If at first you said nothing, and Perennia exited dialogue, then she will say the following when spoken to again:

"Now, is there something I can help you with?"

You will then get the three options again.

When exiting dialogue, her disposition once more plays a role:

"Goodbye, dearie." (Disposition 40 or higher)
"Oh, go away! Shoo, shoo!" (Disposition lower than 40)

After having given you the gift list, trying to talk to her will only lead to her saying:

"Oh, back again? I don't know what else you could need. I gave you the list. That should tell you where you can find my children, and what they want. Now please, make sure my gifts get to the children. I'm counting on you!"

During the quest, when you pay an unfriendly visit to Perennia's children, a few of them will comment on her; in Leyawiin, Caelia Draconis will say:

"My mother? Oh, do you know her? She's such a sweet woman. I've been a terrible daughter I'm afraid. I simply must visit more often! Anyway, I have duties to tend to. If you see my mother, tell her I'll visit soon! I promise!"

In the Drunken Dragon Inn, Andreas Draconis will, when confronted with the fact that 'his mother bled like a pig', attack you with the words:

"My mother? No! What have you done to her! I'll kill you! Agghh!"

NotesEdit

  • Her ghost will later attack you if you activate her tombstone, which will be present after having completed Next of Kin.
  • It is possible for her to die before having started the related quest. Her body won't disappear, however, so you can just take the list from her body when the quest has started.
  • An Oblivion Gate may appear right next to her farm. This usually results in her dying somewhere in the area around her farm, which requires for you to search for her body.
