Umog gra-Marad is an Orc who lives in the Imperial City Temple District with her husband, Graman gro-Marad. She works as the night guard at Umbacano's Manor in the Talos Plaza District along with Surius Afranius. She can be bribed to leave her post to go have a drink at The Tiber Septim Hotel, which can be a good method for thieves who need to break into Umbacano's Manor undetected.
Umog works the night shift at Umbacano's Manor, starting at 5pm and ending at 6am. During that time, she mostly positions herself just to the right of the entrance, though starting from 10pm she may every so often head upstairs for a quick tour of the Private Quarters before returning to her post. If she detects you she will start following you everywhere before eventually attacking you for trespassing. If you manage to bribe her, she will unlock the front door and then head to the Tiber Septim Hotel for four hours of drinking.
Either way, once her shift ends, she changes into more comfortable clothes and heads home, where she will relax until 8am. At that point she eats a two-hour breakfast and then heads to bed. After waking up at 4pm she wanders around the house for an hour before heading to work.
She wears chainmail armor, a cuirass, greaves, gauntlets and boots. She is armed with a shortsword of embers and carries a spare set of clothing which she will wear when sleeping, a brown shirt and light brown linens, her house key and some gold.
DialogueEdit
Speaking to Umog gra-Marad for the first time will have her state her name and her occupation:
- "My name is Umog gra-Marad. I'm employed by Master Umbacano as a night guard."
- Imperial City
- "You'll find a lot of orcs [sic] serving as private guards. Watch work is too dull. Lots of folks say, 'Oooh, there's an orc [sic], she's scary'. Makes it easy."
You can then ask her about her employer, which will open up the possibility of bribing her to abandon her post, depending on whether her Disposition is above 75 or not:
- Umbacano
- "I keep an eye on his place. Stuffed full of treasure, you know? But no dirty thief's getting in while I'm on duty." (Disposition < 75)
- "You know, sometimes I get thirsty during the night shift. Duck out to the Tiber Septim for a quick drink. Not like anyone would notice. I mean, what are the chances a thief would choose that moment to try to break in?"
- Sure, whatever you say.
- "Just making conversation, buddy."
- The Tiber Septim Hotel? Expensive.
- "Damn straight. I can only treat myself when I'm feeling flush."
- Maybe another time I'll treat you.
- "Sure, sounds good. See you around."
- Here's 100 gold. Have a drink on me.
- "You're a real friend of the working stiff, you know that? Maybe I'll see you there tonight, and we can drink to your generosity."
Asking her the same question after Umbacano is killed during the quest Secrets of the Ayleids will have her mention that he seems to have disappeared:
- "You know, I haven't seen him around for a while. But I'm still getting paid, so what do I care?"
RumorsEdit
Although possibly unaware, Umog has an admirer in Uzul gro-Grulam, even though she is married and Uzul is courting Myvryna Arano. When asked about the Imperial City, Uzul will proclaim:
- "Hard to find an Orc girl in this city like Umog gra-Marad. Smart, tough, got a good trade. Nice-looking, too. So I got to make my intentions clear."
NotesEdit
- At one point during development, she was known as Umog gra-Barash, as this name still appears in the script for the quest An Unexpected Voyage. Strangely, this name ties her to a key that is found in possession of Myvryna Arano and Uzul gro-Grulam. Although the key just serves as their house key, it is never explained why Uzul and Myvryna have a key that's seemingly tied to Umog, as nothing points to the fact that they were ever meant to live together.
- Both her and Usheeja want to stand in the same spot next to the front door and their guard schedules overlap between 5am and 6am, meaning they will spend the whole hour walking into each other.
- While you can bribe her at any point during the day, she only heads to the Tiber Septim Hotel if she is currently working her night shift.
