- This pet resembles the bearded vulture, a vulture of the Gypaetinae subfamily.
- The latter half of its default name, "buzzard", is a term colloquially used to describe turkey vultures in the United States. This is technically a misnomer: buzzards are birds of prey, and vultures are scavengers. Most birds who claim "buzzard" as their namesake are hawks of the Buteo genus.
