After speaking to Captain Viveka about some mysterious disappearances, you can go to the Windtorn House to question Yiri. However, when you enter you'll hear Bonohild yelling:
- Bonohild: "Yiri! Look out!"
Run upstairs and you'll find Bonohild standing over a dead Worm Cult Assassin and Yiri sitting on the bed. If you try to talk to Yiri, she'll remain silent.
After investigating the dead assassin, you can ask her some questions but she doesn't want to answer them:
- "<Yiri says nothing.>"
- Yiri? Captain Viveka sent me. Can you tell me about your father?
- "No. Don't want to. So cold."
There are two ways to get the required information out of Yiri. After reading the Worm Cultist's letter turn to Bonohild, who will remember that a Baandari peddler just recently arrived in Riften. The Khajiit merchant might have some of her late father's favorite White Moon tea, the smell of which could calm Yiri down enough to talk. Alternatively, if you have the Intimidate perk, you can skip getting the tea by taking the "Bad Cop" approach. Regardless of the method, you will learn an undead has taken her father:
- <Waft the tea leaves under her nose.>
- "White Moon? Father's tea. Pa always said it reminded him of the stories. The peddlers would tell tales around the campfires."
- Who took him, Yiri? Who took your pa?
- "He was taken. Taken by the cold eyes in the water. Drowned men. He pushed me away. Biting like animals, vicious. Hungry. Screaming. Oh, Papa. Why won't you stop screaming?"
- Rest now. I'll take care of it.
- [Intimidate] <Slap her> Snap out of it. What happened?
- "Don't! Don't hurt me! It was the dead thing, the dead thing in the water! It ate him. It took my father away and ate him. It's still out there. Keep it away from me!"
After the quest, she still won't speak at first, but you can tell her the zombies are gone:
- The undead won't trouble you any longer, Yiri.
- "They're gone? You're certain?
I'll never forget those hands, those dead eyes. Thank you. For not letting my father die in vain."
