Masque of Clavicus Vile

The Masque of Clavicus Vile is a Daedric artifact created by Clavicus Vile that will gain you the respect and admiration of everyone who meets you. It is given as a reward for returning the Rueful Axe to Clavicus Vile during the quest A Daedra's Best Friend.

NotesEdit

  • The Rueful Axe does not count as a Daedric artifact, while the Masque of Clavicus Vile does. If you wish to obtain the Oblivion Walker Achievement you should exchange the Axe for the Masque of Clavicus Vile during the quest A Daedra's Best Friend.
  • The Masque provides the biggest benefit at vendors of any headgear in the game, with the exception of the Blackguard's HoodDB. This is because the 10-point Speech boost given by Fortify Persuasion provides its own discount, which the Fortify Barter effect compounds.
    • Since Fortify Persuasion cannot bring Speech above 100, the combined discount from the Masque's enchantments never quite matches the flat 25% Barter effect of the Hood; at best, it attains a discount of 24.88%, when the player's Speech level is 90. For reference, the Masque provides a discount of 23.28% when the player's Speech level is 10, or a discount of 23.92% when their Speech level is 50.

BugsEdit

  •   Equipping the Guild Master's Hood will let you equip the Masque of Clavicus Vile, allowing you to benefit from both Fortify Barter enchantments at once. ?
  • This item cannot be tempered. In addition, it has the ebony material keyword, meaning you'll get a bonus with the Matching Set perk for wearing it with other ebony pieces, but not daedric.
  • Equipping this helmet along with the Ebony Mail can cause your head to disappear. ?
