WalkthroughEdit

When you first meet Sorla, she's in the middle of a job - the Mages Guild has hired her to investigate a man named named Jelin who lives in Chorrol (his house is behind The Grey Mare) - he only ever goes out at night, so the rumor is he's a vampire. Since you want to recruit her, she enlists you to do the heavy lifting - i.e., go to his house and find out the truth. The door is normally locked, but someone unlocks it at midnight, so go then. He's home (of course), but he seems a little off when you talk to him. You'll get a journal entry prompting you to look around.

Check the cupboard and you'll find an eyelet; pull it, and it opens a secret door that reveals room with the body of the real Jelin lying on a table. At this point, the man posing as Jelin (who's actaully a necromancer) escapes while you're busy. Beside the body, there are a few things of note here: An altar to the Worm King, and a journal on the table. Take the journal to Sorla, and she'll immediately head back to the house. She'll grab a creature off the altar that she calls a "bone converter" and throw it into the fire, destroying it, which completes her mission. She'll talk to you about joining the Order; after you're done, you can head back to the manor.

Journal EntriesEdit

Uncanny Neighborhood (ODDNQSorla)
Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
10 Supposedly there is a guy named Jelin in Chorrol. The people don't like him very much and avoid him, which does not seem to be hard, because he rarely leaves the house. I will enter the house and find out if he is actually a leper. The door is locked all day, but it seems someone always unlocks it at midnight.
20 I've entered Jelin's house. Let's see if he's home.
25 I spoke with Jelin. But something seems to be odd about him. I should look around more to see if I can find anything suspicious.
30 I found a secret room in Jelin's house. When I entered it, I only heard the wrong Jelin left the house. The real Jelin lies headless on a table in front of me. It seems as though he has fallen prey to a necromancer.
40 I found a diary in the secret room. That guy who killed poor Jelin seems to be a necromancer. In the book is ongoing talk of revenge and hatred of the Mages Guild. I should give this book to Sorla.
50 Sorla took the book and wanted to look again in Jelin's house immediately. I should follow her.
60 When she arrived Jelin's house, Sorla walked purposefully into the room, took a strange essence from the necromancer altar, and destroyed it.
70 Finishes quest  Sorla told me that this was the essence of a bone converter, with which you could easily summon a bone converter. She said that now that this threat has been removed from the world, she's willing to talk to me about other matters.
Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  •   It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ODDNQSorla stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
