Hhontjulf Fire-Mane

Hhontjulf Fire-Mane is a Nord hunter and the titular Nord of the Thieves Guild quest, 'When the Nord's Away...'. He is away on a hunting trip during the time of your arrival in Old Ebonheart, and has left his house (and valuable boots) unguarded, but for a particularly vicious dog. He returns right after you pick up the Snow Hare Boots, and he leaves on another hunting trip after exiting his house.

As with many adventuring Nords, an encounter with a witch has left him severely underdressed.

He wears a bear helmet and a pair of Nordic bearskin boots. He wields a Nordic shortsword.

Aside from his natural resistance to shock, immunity to frost, ability to shield himself, and a natural frost damage spell, he knows no spells.

On the ground floor of his house, there are 3 bottles of Cyrodiilic brandy and 2 bottles of flin on the table and the hutch around the corner from the entrance. Hhjontjulf's Bedroom Key can also be found on the hutch, which unlocks the door (80) to the second floor. On the bookshelf on the second floor, there is a snow wolf pelt, a wolf left pauldron, a wolf left gauntlet, a Ring of Shadow Form, a Ring of Poisonblooms, a Ring of Restore Finesse, an Amulet of Balyna's Antidote, a bear cuirass, a copy of The Marksmanship Lesson, and a bear shield. On his bed is another bear helmet, and on the bedside table is another bottle of flin. His Snow Hare Boots can be found under the bedside table. On the windowsill by the bed, there is a snow bear pelt, a piece of scamp skin, a piece of Daedra skin, and a wolf pelt.

Thieves Guild: When the Nord's Away...Edit

  • Greetings:
(If you are a man and haven't killed Halli the Wolfdog):
"What the hell is this!? I come back home after a long journey of hunting game, exploring caves, and finally losing all my clothes to a blasted witch... only to find that someone's broken into my house! You better explain yourself, son..."
  • [Lie] I came here to feed your dog.:
"Am I supposed to believe that? You're a liar and a thief, aren't ya? And I like thieves even less than witches..."
  • Continue:
"I'm gonna chop you into dog meat!" Goodbye (Disposition -95, Fight +100, he attacks you)
(If your Speechcraft ≥ 30 and you haven't hurt Halli the Wolfdog OR your Speechcraft ≥ 75 and you have hurt Halli the Wolfdog):
"That coward Rifskald Whalebane wasn't brave enough to feed Halli himself, so he sent you, eh? You have my thanks then. I don't have any money on me -- that bloody witch took it all -- so I can't pay you right now, I'm afraid." (Disposition +30)
  • It's alright. I'll be going now.:
"Right. I'll be leaving for another adventure, soon. I suppose I can trust you to look after Halli while I'm gone, yes?" Goodbye
(If you have hurt Halli the Wolfdog):
"Oh, really? Then why is my dog bleeding? You've hurt it, haven't you? You monster!"
  • Continue:
"I'm gonna chop you into dog meat!" Goodbye (Disposition -95, Fight +100, he attacks you)
  • A witch took your clothes?:
"Well... err... yes. She tricked me with her promises, then cast a nasty paralysis spell on me and took off with nearly everything I had... Could've happened to anyone. But that's beside the point! I wanna know why you're in my house..." (See '[Lie]...' and 'Sorry, I'll be going now.' choices)
  • Sorry, I'll be going now.:
"Hold on... You're a thief, aren't ya? And I like thieves even less than witches..."
  • Continue:
"I'm gonna chop you into dog meat!" Goodbye (Disposition -95, Fight +100, he attacks you)
(If you are a woman and haven't killed Halli the Wolfdog):
"What the hell is this!? I come back home after a long journey of hunting game, exploring caves, and finally losing all my clothes to a blasted witch... only to find that someone's broken into my house! You better explain yourself, girl..." (See identical choices above)
(If you are a man and have killed Halli the Wolfdog):
"What the hell is this!? I come back home after a long journey of hunting game, exploring caves, and finally losing all my clothes to a blasted witch... only to find that someone's broken into my house and killed my dog! You're in for a world of pain, son..."
  • Terribly sorry, I'll be going now.:
"Sorry? That's not good enough. I'm gonna chop you into dog meat!" Goodbye (Disposition -95, Fight +100, he attacks you)
  • A witch took your clothes?:
"Well... err... yes. She tricked me with her promises, then cast a nasty paralysis spell on me and took off with nearly everything I had... Could've happened to anyone. But that's beside the point! You killed my dog! Prepare to die." Goodbye (Disposition -95, Fight +100, he attacks you)

(If you lied about being there to feed Halli and talk to him again):
"Halli is such a good dog, isn't it? I'll be off soon on another adventure. Take good care of it while I'm away."
(If you lied about being there to feed Halli and then killed them):
"Halli is dead because of you! I'm gonna chop you into dog meat!" Goodbye (Disposition -95, Fight +100, he attacks you)
