Cano

Cano is a Redguard agent and a Fixer of the East Empire Company who can be found in their offices in Old Ebonheart. He has a number of assignments for member of the Company, covering menial office work, difficult clients, disgruntled customers, and a rather secretive trading network running between Old Ebonheart and assorted Velothi merchants on the east bank of the Thirr River. He is also a medium trainer in Unarmored, Acrobatics, and Short Blade.

Cano is professional, but humane - expressing considerable shock at the news of Marki's death, and anger in the event that you interpret an instruction to make sure that Company clients 'stay quiet' as an order to kill.

He wears a common shirt, a pair of expensive pants, and a pair of common shoes. He wields a Steel Dagger of Swiftblade and carries 100 randomized gold.

Like all Redguards, he has a natural resistance to poison and disease, and can boost his health, strength, agility and endurance for a short period of time, but otherwise knows no spells.

"To be honest, I'm still wrapping something up here. I'll have something for you soon. In the meantime, there seems to be a commotion in the lobby. Could you see what's up?"
"I need you to notify some clients about some shipping delays."
"I need you to close a deal down in Almas Thirr. You'll be carrying around some cargo, so make some room in your inventory before accepting this."
"I'd like you to find Marki the Shark."
"Please collect the Briricca update."
"Some of our clients need to stay quiet about us."

Finally, all applicants should be trained in the time-honored virtues of long blades and medium armor, as has been customary for the Company for generations."

"Sorry, I'm just a grunt. Can't give promotions. Ask an officer like Quilmaro."

East Empire Company: Paper TrailEdit

  • Greeting:
"Any update on the Briricca report?"
  • Briricca report:
"The Briricca Private Bank loaned us money for a project, and now they want an update on its progress. I've delegated that to the clerks: Crendal Barthe, Mero Maro, and Lorindil. Ask them each for their ends of the Briricca report. See what's holding them up. Talk to me when you have all three. Barthe and Maro are here at their desks; I don't know where Lorindil is."
"I've delegated it to Crendal Barthe, Mero Maro, and Lorindil. Talk to me when you've secured all three of their reports. Crendal Barthe and Mero Maro are here at their desks, but I don't know where Lorindil is."
(If you have the Briricca Report of 3E 426):
"The Briricca Report of 3E 426? No, that's an old report. Get me the newest report from Mero Maro and the others."
"Thank you, %PCName, and well done. I'm going to gather these into a single report now, and I'll need you to bring it to my supervisor. Just a second..." (Removed Lorindil's Briricca Report, Mero Maro's Briricca Report, and Crendal's Briricca Report from your inventory)
  • [Wait for Cano to finish the report.]:
"I can't read Mero Maro's writing. I'm going to need him to do this one over." (You receive Mero Maro's Briricca Report)
"Talk to me when I can read Maro's report."
"Splendid. One second, %PCName..." (Removed Mero Maro's New Briricca Report from your inventory)
  • [Wait for Cano to finish the report.]:
"Here we are. I'll need you to hand this to my boss, Quilmaro. His office is just upstairs, next to Mette Black-Briar's." (You receive Cano's Briricca Report)
"Take it to my boss, Quilmaro. He's the Altmer in the robe. His office is just upstairs, next to Mette Black-Briar's."
"Just do what the higher-ups say. It's out of my hands now."
"Thank you very much for taking care of that, %PCName."
(If you have been expelled from the East Empire Company):
"You don't work for the Company anymore, %PCName. We can't talk about this."

East Empire Company: Tough CustomerEdit

  • Greetings:
"So you ran into Yontus Kushummu! Nasty man, but an important client. What did he want?"
(If Yontus Kushummu or Yak gro-Yam are dead):
"You're a liability, %PCName. You and I aren't working together." Goodbye (Disposition -100)
  • assignment:
"Tell me about Yontus Kushummu."
  • Yontus Kushummu:
(If you told Yontus Kushummu you couldn't help him):
"Yontus Kushummu began life as an Ashlander, an illiterate tribal -- for Dunmer, the lowest of the low. He's got a chip on his shoulder. Sorry you had to run into him! And sorry you got ripped off on the last job. You really saved us there, and that deserves more than 5 drakes. I hope this makes things right, and here's your uniform, straight from the cleaners. I have your next assignment ready whenever you want it." (Disposition +5, you receive a Common Shirt, Common Pants, Freshly Shined Shoes, and 200 gold)
(If you told Yontus Kushummu the factor is looking for him):
"So you told him the factor was looking for him? And he just LEFT? That's amazing! The threat of a conversation with Aetia has a way of doing that to people, but I just can't believe he bought it! Great stuff, %PCName. Here's something for your on-the-spot ingenuity, and for the last job. You really saved us with the Briricca report, and that deserves a lot more than just 5 drakes. Now I have another assignment when you're ready." (Disposition +5, East Empire Company Reputation +5, you receive a Common Shirt, Common Pants, Freshly Shined Shoes, and 250 gold)
(If you told Yontus Kushummu you'll help him):
"Thanks for sticking your neck out and offering to help, but I'm afraid I don't quite have the authority to pay out the sum that Yontus is looking for. Go ask Quilmaro."
"Hopefully he comes back with a cooler head. Don't worry, he's not your problem anymore. One of the seniors will handle him next time. Just take this, and here's something for the last job too. You really saved us with the Briricca report, and that deserves a lot more than just five drakes. I have your next assignment ready when you want it." (Disposition +5, East Empire Company Reputation +5, and you receive 250 gold)
"Yontus Kushummu is one of our bigger clients east of the Thirr. As you could no doubt tell, he thinks he's our biggest."

East Empire Company: Buying TimeEdit

  • Greeting:
"Have you spoken with those merchants about the shipping delays?"
"Yeah, it's interesting. I don't really know who in the city is buying this, but lately, clothiers have been putting in orders left and right. If you're curious, give Yaguz an ask."
"He's a Redguard publican who buys our llotham. His tavern, the Salty Futtocks, can be hard to find, but remember it's where all the sailors go. Past Wayrian's store, take High Street all the way to the docks, then look back at the town; the Salty Futtocks will be one of the first things you see."
  • llotham:
"Llotham is a cheap Dunmer drink. It's cheap because it's non-alcoholic. Who'd go down to the pub for a non-alcoholic drink, right? But llotham's ability to grant hardiness and energy has made it quite popular with the laborers who frequent Jodald's tavern. I can also attest it's brought many a Company clerk through the night."
  • shipping delays:
"We've had some supply chain issues lately. I need you to go to town and tell Yaguz gro-Dhaluk his Indoril cloth's coming in late, Wayrian Eulorius his soul gems, and Jodald his llotham. They won't be happy. We've set aside 2000 drakes to cover their losses; whatever's left in the end, you can keep half. See me when you're done. Oh, and this goes for all my jobs: feel free to ask around the office for advice. I'm just a small fry, but Quilmaro and Mette are old hands."
"Talk to me when you've compensated Yaguz gro-Dhaluk, Wayrian Eulorius, and Jodald. Feel free to ask around the office for advice on how to proceed. I'm just a small fry, but Quilmaro and Mette are old hands."
"So Yaguz gro-Dhaluk, Wayrian Eulorius, and Jodald are all happy? Well done, %PCName. Now walk me through your expenditures..."
  • [Explain what happened.]:
(If you were under budget):
"So overall, you've cost us %TR_m3_EEC_GoldDelays drakes out of an original budget of 2000. That's %TR_m3_EEC_Cano3_TalkingTo left over, and as promised, you take half of what's left. Well done, %PCName! Talk to me when you want your next assignment." (Disposition +10, East Empire Company Reputation +10, Reputation +1, and you receive half of the gold you had left)
(If you didn't spend any gold):
"So you gave Yaguz %TR_m3_EEC_GoldYaguz drakes in jewelry, you gave Jodald %TR_m3_EEC_GoldJodald drakes in jerky, and you got Wayrian to give you %TR_m3_EEC_GoldWayrian for a crate of soul gems on which you spent 200. That's a net loss of... zero. That's some masterful bargaining, %PCName. You've saved the Company 2000 drakes, and as promised, half is yours. Also, this platter just came in from Vvardenfell, and I'd like you to have it. Talk to me when you want your next assignment." (Disposition +15, East Empire Company Reputation +10, Reputation +2, you receive 1,000 gold and a Limeware Platter)
(If you were over budget):
"So overall, you cost us %TR_m3_EEC_GoldDelays with these merchants. Unfortunately, you only had 2000 to work with. If you want to be in good standing with the Company, you'll have to cover the difference. Do you have %TR_m3_EEC_GoldReward drakes on you?"
  • Here you are.:
"Thank you, %PCName. Fortunately, on your next assignment, all the haggling's already been done for you." (Disposition +5, East Empire Reputation +5)
  • Hang on.:
"Are you serious?" (Disposition -5)
(If you didn't have the gold initially or said "Hang on."):
"You spent %TR_m3_EEC_GoldDelays drakes, but unfortunately, you only had 2000 to work with. If you want to be in good standing with the Company, you'll have to cover the difference." (See "Here you are." and "Hang on." choices above)
"Well done on the damage control there, %PCName."
(If you have been expelled from the East Empire Company):
"This is a sensitive matter. I'm not discussing our supply chain with an ex-employee."
  • soul gems:
"I have no idea how they're made or how they work. Never cared to learn. They don't sit right with me, but that's none of my business. Enchanters use them, they can be very profitable, and that's all that matters."
  • Wayrian Eulorius:
"He's an Imperial trader who buys our soul gems. If you continue down High Street past Yaguz's shop, you'll find Wayrian's Mystical Emporium on your left."
  • Yaguz gro-Dhaluk:
"He's an Orc tailor who buys our Indoril cloth. If you walk out of our building, hook an immediate right, and head due east down High Street, you'll see his shop right by the main gates."

East Empire Company: Talking ShopEdit

  • Greeting:
"I need you to close a deal with Mamaea Banapli. Have you gone down to Almas Thirr yet?"
  • close a deal:
"Mamaea Banapli has agreed to sell us 5 Mage's Eye scrolls and a magical ring for 40 drakes, 10 hackle-lo leaves, and a dozen eggs. Identify yourself with the phrase "Demons of Veloth". Pay her and bring us the goods. I also want you to ask her three questions. Has she received her regular payments? Have any issues come up since the last one? And have the rates on saltrice changed lately? Take a boat to Almas Thirr; she'll be on the southwestern docks. You have enough for the fare there and back." (You receive 90 gold, 10 Hackle-Lo Leaves, and 12 Small Kwama Eggs)
"Pay Mamaea Banapli, ask her my three questions, and bring us the wares. Identify yourself with the phrase "Demons of Veloth". She's expecting 40 drakes, 10 hackle-lo leaves, and a dozen small kwama eggs."
"Thank you, %PCName. Here's something for a job well done, and you can keep the ring; I wasn't as interested in the cargo as in her answers to those questions. It's time for me to tell you about Marki the Shark." (Disposition +5, East Empire Company Reputation +3, removed 5 Scrolls of The Mage's Eye from your inventory, and you receive 100 gold)
"It's time for me to tell you about Marki the Shark."
(If you have been expelled from the East Empire Company):
"Get re-hired first. Then we'll talk."
"No, of course not. The Caldera Mining Company is, but the East Empire Company? To us, the Hlaalu are just one of the five Houses we have to deal with if we want our ebony and our grains. Sure, they're the richest, the most mercantile, and the "most Imperialized." That just makes them harder to deal with: they have enough money without needing ours, they know all our tricks, and sometimes, they'll play them even better."
(If you are a member of House Hlaalu):
"Well, no, besides you. The Caldera Mining Company is, and maybe the Emperor is, but the East Empire Company? To us, you Hlaalu are just one of the five Houses we have to deal with if we want our ebony and our grains. Sure, you're the richest, the most mercantile, and the "most Imperialized." That just makes you harder to deal with: you have enough money without needing ours, you know all our tricks, and sometimes, you'll play them even better."
  • Demons of Veloth:
"That is the phrase you should use with Mamaea Banapli."
  • issues come up:
"As one of my three questions for Mamaea Banapli, ask her if she's run into any issues since the East Empire Company last paid her. We're just checking in on a valued client."
  • Mamaea Banapli:
"Like Yontus Kushummu, she's a merchant belonging to Morrowind's Velothi underclass, but she's been a partner of ours for a while, and she's reliable. She'll be waiting for you down at Almas Thirr's southwestern docks."
"Like Yontus Kushummu, she's a merchant belonging to Morrowind's Velothi underclass, but she's been a partner of ours for a while, and she's reliable. With magical cargo, we typically have someone from the Mages Guild authenticate it, but there's no need with Mamaea."
  • rates on saltrice:
"As one of my three questions for Mamaea Banapli, ask her if the local rates on saltrice have fluctuated. She does business in Indoril lands, and the Indoril have always sourced their saltrice from the Dres, but I'm curious if the new Hlaalu plantations on Vvardenfell have made a dent in the market yet. I'd guess they haven't, but it's not public information; the Indoril don't exactly have a stock exchange. Just ask."
  • regular payments:
"As one of my three questions for Mamaea Banapli, ask her if the East Empire Company has been paying her on schedule. For her sake, because she doesn't like carrying around too much gold, we often pay her in installments. Part of the payment you're bringing her is for a previous trade on pottery."
  • three questions:
"My three questions for Mamaea Banapli are: Has she gotten her regular payments? Have any issues come up for her since the last one? And have the rates on saltrice changed recently?"

East Empire Company: Follow the MoneyEdit

  • Greeting:
"Any news on Marki the Shark and those three clients?"
"Aren Tano was one of Marki's contacts among the Velothi Dunmer. They were supposed to meet in Almas Thirr to seal a deal on spider silk, and as we haven't heard any complaints from him, I assume Marki made that appointment, but I'd like you to confirm. I'd recommend heading to Dondril first by foot, finding Deldor Arethi, and taking the same road further south to Almas Thirr, or to Vhul and then taking a silt strider."
"I'm glad you found him. We should be able to put that spider silk to good use soon."
  • Briricca report:
"We first took out that loan to fund Marki's work on the eastern Aanthirin. We would have paid it back on time, with interest, if not for his sudden absence. The shipping delays forced us to request an extension. You came in just as we were finishing the write-up."
  • close a deal:
"I wasn't as interested in Mamaea's wares as in her answers to those questions. The first two shed some light on Marki the Shark's activities. The one about saltrice was just strategic: I was curious whether Hlaalu saltrice had started to impact the Indoril markets. Not yet, it'd seem."
  • Deldor Arethi:
"Deldor Arethi was one of Marki's newer contacts among the Velothi Dunmer. They were to meet in Dondril, a small fishing village south of here, to seal a deal on llotham. Since we haven't heard any complaints from him, I assume Marki made that appointment, but I'd like you to confirm. To get to Dondril, just follow the south road out of Old Ebonheart. I'd guess since their meeting, Deldor probably went south to Vhul."
"I'm glad you've found him. We should be able to put that llotham to good use soon."
  • Demons of Veloth:
"That is the phrase you should use with Marki's clients."
  • hunt down the Shark:
"Marki's work often had him out of town, and his movements were convoluted and vaguely communicated, so we've had no idea where to look for him until now. I think he went missing somewhere along the Thirr River. On his last trip, Marki was to meet three clients on the Thirr: Deldor Arethi in Dondril, Aren Tano in Almas Thirr, and Varuso Veloth in Velonith. See what they know. If they've moved, ask around for them. But be discreet. The Indoril don't know about Marki's work; let's keep it that way."
"He's dead? I suppose you had no reason to mention it until now. This is unfortunate, but not unexpected. We'll have to take action later. For now, I'd like you to check in on three clients Marki was to meet: Deldor Arethi in Dondril, Aren Tano in Almas Thirr, and Varuso Veloth in Velonith. I need to know which ones he got to before he died. If they've moved, ask around for them. Discreetly. The Indoril still don't know about Marki's work. They shouldn't."
"Track down the clients I mentioned: Deldor Arethi in Dondril, Aren Tano in Almas Thirr, and Varuso Veloth in Velonith. See if they met with Marki the Shark. They've certainly moved by now, so ask around for them. But be discreet. The Indoril don't know about Marki's work; let's keep it that way."
  • Indoril Ilvi:
"Indoril Ilvi is the lord of the eastern Aanthirin from his manor, Roa Dyr. He thinks we're conspiring with the Hlaalu to take his lands from him, so he has historically done everything he can to keep us away from his people. Nothing violent, just bureaucracy, regulation, and the abuse of ancient aristocratic privileges. Before he went missing, Marki the Shark made us a lot of money bypassing all this and cutting deals with Ilvi's people directly, right under Ilvi's nose for the trade goods we wanted."
  • Mamaea Banapli:
"Mamaea Banapli's been a client of ours, and specifically Marki the Shark's, for a very long time. We've been asking many of Marki's contacts for information on his possible whereabouts, and what she told you gave me a strong hunch to look along the Thirr River."
  • Marki the Shark:
"Marki the Shark was an essential agent of ours. Before he went missing, he did a lot of important work for us, and we've been playing catch-up ever since; all your assignments so far have helped us there. I'm sorry for the deception, but Marki's work was -- is -- of an incredibly sensitive nature, and we couldn't risk any leaks. Ask me about it if you're curious. In any case, I have a new assignment for you: I'd like you to hunt down the Shark."
"Marki the Shark was an essential agent of ours, and we've all been catching up on Marki's work since he went missing. I'd like you to hunt down the Shark."
"So Marki was murdered? That's horrible. But before we act any further, I'd still like you to meet those clients I told you about: Deldor Arethi near Dondril, Aren Tano near Almas Thirr, and Varuso Veloth near Velonith. Check in on them. Which ones did Marki meet before he died?"
"You've spoken with all the merchants, but you still haven't found Marki the Shark? Well, I guess I'd follow up on Varuso Veloth's lead. Check the river around Velonith. According to Marki's notes, the Indoril don't patrol that area; a body could hide there a long time. Maybe his."
"So Marki the Shark is dead. Unfortunate, but not unexpected. A knife in the back, a boulder weighing him down, all of his valuables on him... The locals have gotten very testy lately, and there's been a wave of anti-Imperial assassinations. It seems Marki got caught in one. Extremely upsetting. But at least our contacts are safe. Thank you for your hard work and long travels, %PCName. This Dwarven longsword just came in, and I'd like you to have it. Stay safe out there." (Disposition +5, East Empire Company Reputation +10, Reputation +1, you receive 1000 gold and a Dwarven longsword)
"Even after 400 years in the Empire, Morrowind is still very unsafe for us outlanders. Be careful out there, %PCName."
  • Marki's work:
"Indoril Ilvi, lord of the eastern Aanthirin, is highly suspicious of Western merchants and does all he can to keep us out of his lands. Imperial law says we can go wherever we want, but Indoril bureaucracy can sure make it inconvenient. Marki the Shark realized we could cut through all the red tape if we were smart about it, so he started trading with Ilvi's peasants directly, without Ilvi's knowledge. It's been years now. It's legal, and very profitable, but it'd be a diplomatic nightmare if word got out."
  • shipping delays:
"Perhaps more accurate than "shipping delays" would be "unclassified shipping." Marki evidently negotiated some shipments on his last business trip, and we've received some of them, but the man wasn't around to handle the relevant documentation, so we aren't sure what's arrived and what's still underway. In this uncertainty, we haven't been able to reap any profits."
  • suspicious of Western merchants:
"Indoril lords are all suspicious of Western merchants. Their power rests on the cheap labor of large peasant underclasses; if we enrich the peasants with trade, the lords wither away. But over the years, most Indoril lords have agreed to trade with us as long we stick to the 'proper channels': chapels, tollmer, bureaucrats. Indoril Ilvi is different. Ilvi has the Hlaalu to worry about, and he thinks we're conspiring with the Hlaalu. He's wrong, but good luck telling him that."
  • Varuso Veloth:
"Varuso Veloth was one of Marki's older contacts among the Velothi Dunmer. They were to meet in Velonith, a small farming village southeast of Almas Thirr, to seal a deal on fish. He's pretty impatient, so the fact he hasn't come calling like Yontus probably means Marki met him recently enough. I'd like you to confirm, though."
"Kidnapped and held for ransom?! I'm sorry, %PCName, but you'll have to figure that out yourself. We don't have the funds to spare for that. On the upside, however much you have to pay, I'm sure Varuso Veloth will make it worth your while when he's out."
"It sounds like you two have already met! Check if he's still in the Briricca Bank."
"So he never met Marki the Shark, but his captors might have found Marki the Shark's body somewhere south of Velonith. Grim tidings, but I'd check over there."
"I'm glad you saved him. He has a neat system in that area: he moves Western goods into one hamlet in exchange for its local export, moves it into a neighboring hamlet for *its* export, and just keeps circling around local goods until he has fish, which is a good everyone will buy, native or outlander. Funny thing's the villagers could do this themselves, but they don't. Their culture stamps out enterprise and innovation. To them, someone who understands supply and demand like Varuso may as well be a wizard."
  • Yontus Kushummu:
"Yontus Kushummu was one of Marki the Shark's first clients. They had a very long and fruitful partnership until, it seems, the day of their last meeting, where Marki was to show up and pay Yontus for a shipment of pottery. Evidently, the Shark never arrived. I'm guessing that's what Yontus came to complain to us about."

East Empire Comapny: Bank RunEdit

  • Greeting:
"Any update on the Briricca update?"
  • Briricca update:
"We've asked the Briricca Private Bank for an extension on a loan. Go over to the local branch and ask Phedre Briricca if she has an answer for us."
"Ask Phedre Briricca at the Briricca Private Bank if she has an update for us."
"This is good news, %PCName. Overshadowed by some very new, very bad news. What comes next might be your last assignment." (Disposition +10, East Empire Company Reputation +2, removed Briricca EEC Update from your inventory, and you receive 50 gold)
"So they've renewed the loan? It's good to know the Briricca report didn't go to waste."

East Empire Company: Art of the DealEdit

  • Greetings:
"Have you gotten those clients to stay quiet about us?"
"So you've made a deal with Ilvi."
  • Aren Tano:
"He's in Almas Thirr, so out of Indoril territory. He's safe enough from Indoril investigations for me not to worry."
  • deal with Ilvi:
(If you convinced Indoril Ilvi to let the East Empire Company continue their work):
"The Indoril sent us a runner with the details. You told Indoril Ilvi the truth about Marki's work. This whole time we've been trading with his serfs behind his back, making a ton of money reselling their goods in Western markets, and he was fine with it. You just had to convince him the Hlaalu weren't involved. Incredible! For once, honesty paid off. Now that the Indoril have stopped their investigations into Marki's work, we're safe. Everything's fine. Thank you, %PCName. Thank you very much." (Disposition +100, East Empire Company Reputation +10, Reputation +2, and you receive 5000 gold and Bearish)
(If you made a deal with Indoril Ilvi for free passage in his lands):
"The Indoril sent us a runner with the details. So Indoril Ilvi, having done everything he can to keep us out of his lands, finally decided it wasn't worth it anymore. If we sell him ebony and glass, he'll let us pass through his borders without any trouble. That'll make it a lot easier to trade with his friendlier neighbors to the east. Well done, %PCName! Take this as a bonus. And if it didn't go without saying, you and I won't have to worry about Ilvi's investigations into Marki's work any longer." (Disposition +100, East Empire Company Reputation +10, Reputation +2, and you receive 5000 gold)
(If you made a deal with Indoril Ilvi to trade with his government):
"House Indoril sent us a runner with the details. For decades, Indoril Ilvi has refused to trade with us, but now after one conversation with you, he's ready to start signing shipping contracts! This is absolutely historic, %PCName. Very well done! Take this as a bonus. And if it didn't go without saying, you and I won't have to worry about the investigations into Marki's work any longer." (Disposition +100, East Empire Company Reputation +15, Reputation +3, and you receive 5000 gold and Bullish)
(If you made a deal with Indoril Ilvi to trade freely in his lands):
"We've been in Morrowind for about four centuries and broken into pretty much every market here: Redoran, Hlaalu, even Telvanni, but never Indoril. The friendliest Indoril only trade with us in the tightly controlled environment of the chapel, and only ever with their little bureaucrats, never with free traders."
  • Continue:
"I have no idea what you said to Ilvi, but now he's letting us trade with his people directly, without restriction. It's a total free market now. We can meet their demand with our supply! I've gotten word directly from the board of directors to hand you these for a job well done. You're going down in Company history, my friend! Oh, and if it didn't go without saying, you and I obviously won't have to worry about the investigations into Marki's work any longer." (Disposition +100, East Empire Company Reputation +15, Reputation +4, and you receive 7000 gold, Bearish, and Bullish)
  • Deldor Arethi:
"When you met Deldor Arethi, he said he was on his way to Roa Dyr. He should be approaching it now."
(If you got Deldor Arethi to stay quiet):
"Eggs, huh? If that market's heating up, we can put in some orders from Vvardenfell."
(If you convinced Deldor Arethi to join the East Empire Company):
"I haven't run into him yet, but I'll ask him if he has any fun Marki stories when I have the chance."
"Since you got the Indoril to call off the investigations, I'm not worried about him at all."
(If Deldor Arethi is dead):
"I'm not talking about him anymore." (Disposition -10)
  • five-thousand-drake ransom:
"Hmm. You don't suppose those merchants are really Marki clients, do you?"
  • Indoril Ilvi:
"Indoril Ilvi is the lord of Roa Dyr and presently our worst nightmare. He's thinks we're conspiring with the Hlaalu to take the eastern Aanthirin from him. Now he's about to really investigate us and he might find out about Marki's work. It has nothing to do with House Hlaalu, but he won't believe that and I'm not confident you could convince him."
(If you made a deal with Indoril Ilvi):
"Maybe Indoril Ilvi is more open-minded than I thought. I wonder, though: even if the East Empire Company finds new success in his lands, will his sons allow it when THEY become Indoril Ilvi? But that's something for my sons' sons to worry about."
  • Mamaea Banapli:
"Mamaea Banapli's been a client of ours for a very long time. If you'll recall, she told us back in Almas Thirr that she was headed for Roa Dyr, so see if you can catch her there. I don't think she'll sell us out, but we do need her to keep a low profile for a while, and that's going to cost her something. Expect to compensate."
(If you got Mamaea Banapli to keep quiet):
"I'm glad we're all on the same page."
(If you made a deal with Indoril Ilvi):
"Since you got the Indoril to call off their investigations, she isn't a concern to us anymore."
(If you convinced Mamaea Banapli to join the East Empire Company):
"It's nice to have a Dunmer hanging around the office now. She's down in the break room."
(If Mamaea Banapli is dead):
"How could you kill her, %PCName?" (Disposition -20)
  • Priority Shipping Act:
"It's a deal that allows East Empire Company ships to pass through Hlaalu toll posts at a significantly reduced cost. Hlaalu squeeze all they can out of non-Hlaalu ships passing through their toll posts, so the deal really helps us out. If we manage to stop it from wrecking our trade in Indoril territory, we'll be in a nice position. That's where you come in. Hopefully."
"It's a deal that allows East Empire Company ships to pass through Hlaalu toll posts at a significantly reduced cost. Hlaalu squeeze all they can out of non-Hlaalu ships passing through their toll posts, so the deal really helps us out. Thanks to you, it won't completely wreck our trade in Indoril territory. We're in great shape now, %PCName."
  • stay quiet about us:
"In getting the Hlaalu Council Company to sign the Priority Shipping Act, one of our agents has broken new ground for us. The problem is that she's also been tracing Marki's footsteps like you, and the Indoril get antsy seeing the same people deal with Hlaalu and poke around Indoril territory. I need you to head off Indoril Ilvi's investigations and make sure Marki's work stays a secret. Find Mamaea Banapli, Deldor Arethi, and Yontus Kushummu. Buy their silence any way you can. Come back when you have."
"I need you to head off Indoril Ilvi's investigations and ensure Marki's work stays a secret. Find Mamaea Banapli, Deldor Arethi, and Yontus Kushummu. Buy their silence any way you can. Come back when you have."
(If all the clients are dead):
"What the hell, %PCName? This isn't House Hlaalu. That isn't what I meant by silence and you know it. Fine, sure, our clients will stay quiet about us. You did your job. Now take your gold and get out of my sight. We're done." Goodbye (Disposition -100, and you receive 1000 gold)
(If Yontus Kushummu and/or Yak gro-Yam are dead):
"So they'll all stay quiet about us. Mamaea Banapli, Deldor Arethi, Yontus Kushummu, even Yontus's Orc... It's all taken care of. We're at the end of the road now. It wasn't pretty how we got here, but we did. Thank you, %PCName." (Disposition +10, East Empire Company Reputation +3, and you receive 2000 gold)
(If everyone is alive):
"So they'll all stay quiet about us. Mamaea Banapli, Deldor Arethi, Yontus Kushummu, even Yontus's Orc... It's all taken care of. We live another day! You've saved us, %PCName." (Disposition +10, East Empire Company Reputation +8, and you receive 2000 gold)
"It'll take a while for the Indoril lose interest in us, but things'll blow over eventually."
"Since you got Indoril Ilvi to call off his investigations, we don't have to worry about our clients talking about us anymore."
"Since you got Indoril Ilvi to call off his investigations, we don't have to worry about our clients talking. In fact, we'll soon be dropping them altogether; we don't have to trade with lowly serfs when we can trade with the guys who really hold the purse strings in Indoril society. You've made Marki's work obsolete, and we couldn't be happier."
(If you have been expelled from the East Empire Company):
"Get yourself re-hired before we talk about this."
  • Varuso Veloth:
"He'll definitely be laying low here in Old Ebonheart for a while. I'm not really worried about the Indoril getting to him here."
  • Yontus Kushummu:
"Yontus Kushummu was one of Marki the Shark's very first clients. We raised him from rags to riches, and you've seen how much loyalty that's bought us. Someone needs to make sure he'll stay quiet about us. Thankfully, I've already made arrangements with his manservant, Yak gro-Yam. Yontus should be waiting for you at the village of Rilsoan, south of Selyn. Good luck."
"Yontus Kushummu's tongue was cut out? Well, it was only a matter of time. Then he won't be talking about us at all, which means he's not our problem, but now I'm worried about his Orc servant. Yak gro-Yam looks like any old bodyguard or henchman, but really, he's an educated slave. Yontus can't read or write, so Yak keeps all his records. Yak knows everything about us. Try and reach an understanding with him."
"So Yontus Kushummu won't be talking about us to anyone. And he can't read, so he won't be writing about us either. And you've taken care of the slave who'd ordinarily do all that reading and writing for him. I guess we have nothing to worry about, then! And I presume you're sure this pirate friend of yours will be staying quiet as well."
(If Yontus Kushummu is dead):
"So the bandits got him, huh? That's horrible, but if there's anything to be gained from this, at least he won't be talking about us... Now, though, I'm more worried about his Orc servant. Yak gro-Yam looks like a bodyguard, but really, he's an educated slave. Yontus can't read or write, so Yak keeps all his records. That means Yak knows everything about us. Try and reach an understanding with him."
"So the bandits got him, huh? That's horrible, but if there's anything to be gained from this, at least he won't be talking about us... And I'm glad you took care of Yak gro-Yam. What he said was true: Yontus couldn't read or write, so Yak, his educated slave, kept all his records. That means Yak knows everything about us. I'm glad he won't be talking."
(If both Yontus Kushummu and Yak gro-Yam are dead):
"So the bandits got him and his Orc, huh? That's a damned shame. But if there's a silver lining, it means they won't be talking about us."
"Since you got the Indoril to call off their investigations directly, I'm not really worried about him."
(If Yontus Kushummu is dead and you made a deal with Indoril Ilvi):
"It's a tragedy what happened to him, and right on the heels of our Indoril negotiations. With relations smoothed over, we could have asked Ilvi to send a couple nightblades to back you up. Alas."
(If you killed Yontus Kushummu during 'Tough Customer'):
"You think you killed him? You've killed US, %PCName! The board's going to hear about this! This whole branch is getting shut down! Oh, you moron, you've no idea what you've done. No idea at all. Get out of my sight." Goodbye (Disposition -100)
(If you have been expelled from the East Empire Company):
"On second thought, I can't discuss a client of the East Empire Company with someone not presently in its employ."
